Powerball is crossing the Atlantic. Ticket sales in the United Kingdom begin on Monday, July 21, 2026, Powerball officials announced, and UK players will be able to enter the same drawing US players do, starting with the drawing on Wednesday, July 22. It’s the first time in the game’s history that a lottery outside the United States contributes to the Powerball jackpot.

What was announced

The launch follows an agreement, first announced in April, between the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), the non-profit that runs Powerball for its member lotteries, and Allwyn, the operator of The UK National Lottery. With the UK on board, 49 lotteries will pool ticket sales into the shared Powerball jackpot. UK players will play for the same advertised jackpot as everyone else.

What changes for US players: nothing

Powerball has been clear on this point: for players in the United States, the $2 ticket price, the odds of winning, the cash prizes, and the Monday-Wednesday-Saturday drawing nights all stay exactly as they are. The odds of hitting the jackpot are set by the game’s matrix (5 numbers from 69 plus a Powerball from 26), and adding more players doesn’t change your ticket’s chances at all.

What a bigger player base does change is how fast the jackpot climbs between winners. More tickets sold means more money flowing into the shared prize pool each drawing, so rolls should build bigger, faster. More than half of each ticket still stays in the jurisdiction where it was bought, funding the same public programs as before.

If the UK launch does what officials expect, the record books, currently topped by the $2.04 billion jackpot of November 2022, may not stand for long.
